Bronwen qualified as a yoga teacher in the UK in 2000. Her training was through the internationally recognised British Wheel of Yoga (Scottish Branch, the SYTA). She has also trained with numerous well-known international teachers such as Shiva Rea, BNS Iyengar, Godfrey Devereaux, John Scott, Richard Freeman, Dona Holleman, Peter Sterios and Swami Pragyamurti Saraswati. Her clear instructions and demonstrations, and an excellent understanding of anatomy and alignment characterise her teaching. Although she teaches predominantly Vinyasa flow-style yoga, she has a strong intuitive ability to judge the needs of a class or individual and modify the style of class accordingly. In her teaching she shares her knowledge of philosophy, Ayurveda (Indian science of healing through diet and balanced lifestyle), other energy disciplines, as well as her own experience. She has a firm belief in taking responsibility for one’s health on all levels to the best of one’s ability, and her greatest desire for her students is that they can use the knowledge they gain from her classes to do that and thereby improve all aspects of their wellbeing. “I have been lucky enough to study with some fantastic yoga teachers, but for me the greatest teacher of all is immersion in the practice. Yoga is not just what I do on the mat or what I teach – it is a whole way of being (in awareness) and it continues to be the guide on my journey, in whatever form it needs to be practiced in the present moment. Yoga in its entirety provides the tools one needs to take responsibility for one’s self-healing, empowerment and wellbeing on every level and my desire as a teacher is to share that possibility with every student. There are no limits to where the practice will take you – the only limits are those we impose on ourselves.” |
